Susan Freiwald and Kevin Bankston discuss the Electronic Communications Privacy Act

We are excited to announce that the new associate director for the Center for Internet and Society (CIS), Elaine Adolfo, has started a CIS group on SLSConnect. CIS brings together scholars, academics, legislators, students, programmers, security researchers, and scientists to study the interaction of new technologies and the law and to examine how the synergy between the two can either promote or harm public goods like free speech, innovation, privacy, public commons, diversity, and scientific inquiry.

To kick things off, we’ve posted a video from Data Privacy Day 2011 where Kevin Bankston (senior staff attorney at the Electronic Frontier Foundation) and Susan Freiwald (professor of law at University of San Francisco School of Law) discussed the state of electronic communications law.

Log on to SLSConnect to join the “Center for Internet and Society group and check out the Data Privacy Day 2011 video!
